Tourism projects in Hamedan worth $18.6 million are awaiting investment, IRNA reported.
In all 20 major tourism projects as well as 55 minor projects require substantial investment, Reyhan Soroush-Moghadam, provincial head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) announced on the sidelines of Hamedan’s international confab on investment opportunities.
Projects in health tourism, hotel building, and the Hamedan winter festival ICT are among the investment suggestions.
The event held November 19-20 was attended by 480 investors, including 31 from abroad.
Hamedan Province with a population of 1.7 million people, spread across nine countries encompasses 1,800 touristic attractions. The province’s vicinity to the national capital, provides an advantage for it to foster trade.
The province boasts of 155 active branches in handicrafts, making it the second biggest handicrafts producer in the country.
A total of 1.9 million tourists visited Hamedan Province last summer and the number is estimated to reach 3 million by the end of the Iranian calendar year (ending March 20, 2015).
