A passenger ship funded by the private sector has begun operations along the Khorramshahr-Basra route. “The passenger liner will be an asset in transporting tourists between Iran and Iraq, and provides an easy link for Iranian religious tourists visiting the holy shrines in Iraq,” said Vali-olah Hayati, governor of Khorramshahr at the inauguration ceremony. Benefiting from its location in the Arvand Free Zone Region, Khorramshahr offers tax free goods to passengers, said Jaber Nahiyeh, head of the new passenger line. The cruise ship which docks at the Persian Gulf Marine Passenger Terminal has the capacity to carry up to 85 passengers.  Tickets can be purchased at $30 per head.
