The construction of a floating five-star hotel with 100 suites has started in Bushehr to boost the province’s tourism facilities.
The first phase of Bushehr Tourism Village is underway across 16,000 hectares of land with access to adjacent bays and the sea, ISNA reported.
“A second village has been built in Kangan County for the locals, while the groundwork is being laid for a similar resort in Deylam County,” said Mostafa Salari, governor general of Bushehr Province.
“There are also plans for Genaveh and Asalouyeh. These projects in Bushehr are expected to create numerous job opportunities.”
Salari noted that despite the potentials of Persian Gulf, oil, gas and petrochemical industries and the nuclear power plant, the unemployment rate in Bushehr is lower than the national average, but more work needs to be done.
The unemployment rate in the province was 8.6% in the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 20), down 1% from the corresponding period of a year before.
“The figure can be reduced even further through greater exploitation of the province’s capacities,” he said.
Located off the Persian Gulf coast, the province of Bushehr boasts more than 700 kilometers of coastline where beachgoers can enjoy the sun, sand and a variety of other water sports.
About 80% of Bushehr have a coastline alongside the Persian Gulf. Its tourism potentials have largely been overlooked in favor of the region’s massive oil and gas reserves.
