In a meeting with Iranian officials, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin revealed plans to facilitate visa procedures for a number of countries, including Iran. Ukraine's top diplomat made the announcement over the weekend during a meeting with Ebrahim Rahimpour, Iran's deputy foreign minister for Asia-Pacific affairs, IRNA reported. Pointing to the upcoming meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, Klimkin underlined the need to develop bilateral relations in various sectors, including agriculture, industry and energy. "Tehran is a reliable partner and a regional and international power whose potential for business ties have improved following the removal of international sanctions," he said. Most economic sanctions on Tehran were lifted in January, as a result of the landmark nuclear deal signed between Iran and the six major world powers last year. Rahimpour said business transaction between the two states is very small and new capacities must be created to boost bilateral trade, which a relaxed visa regime can help.
