A French government report has proposed to set up an institute to monitor developments in the tourism industry following recent attacks in the country.

The report released on Wednesday noted that the precise impact of the attacks on tourism is hard to evaluate. It also suggested the creation of a crisis center that would be able to deliver “reliable information” to tourists in case of attacks or serious events happening in the country, AP reported.

France’s economy relies heavily on tourism, which provides an estimated 2 million jobs, according to the government.

Exact figures remain unclear but hotel industry numbers and data on visits to major tourist attractions suggest a general decrease in visits to the French capital and the Riviera, following attacks in Paris last November and in Nice on July 14.
