Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) will allocate up to $26.16 funding to the owners of historical houses inscribed on the national heritage list, IRNA reported. In accordance to this plan, the heritage organization will sign MoUs with the owner of historical houses, in recognition that the proprietors of the properties are best placed to preserve them and supervise their upkeep. Individuals can apply for the loans by referring to the ICHHTO’s offices across the country. This plan is one of a number of government initiatives to privatize historical sites and properties, taking the view that the allocated domestic budget does not suffice to maintain, restore or preserve the country’s invaluable cultural heritage.
