A group of Austrian intends to invest in the construction of the largest tourism complex in Sarein, Ardabil Province, that will restart soon after an eight-year hiatus.

Designed in 2008, the complex is spread over 35,000 square meters and will include the largest and the most luxurious hotel in the region, a hydrotherapy center with state-of-the-art medical equipment and a large commercial center.

The project was abandoned due to disagreements among the stakeholders, but now, after eight long years, the issues seem to have been resolved.

According to CHTN news agency, during a meeting between the Austrian delegation and domestic investors of the project in Sarein, the foreign investors were eager to exchange experiences, join the feasibility phase and invest in the project.

Sarein is a popular destination for domestic and foreign tourists, thanks to its mineral-rich hot water springs that are said to have therapeutic effects.

A number of other plans have also been proposed to help turn the city into a year-round destination.

One such plan aims to make the city’s various sites accessible by connecting them via pavements. The plan has been set in motion, but has been repeatedly delayed due to the inconsistent material supply, Mehr News Agency reported.
