Work on an aerial tourism center, the first of its kind in Iran, will soon begin in Yazd Province. “Spread over 25,000 square meters, the project will provide balloon trips to tourists,” Mohammad Reza Nassiri, a deputy at the provincial office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization, said. Designed in 2012, the scheme is financed by private investors. An initial budget of 5 billion rials (approximately $143,000) has been earmarked for the first phase of the project, ISNA reported. “The center will start operation with two hot air balloons,” said Nassiri, hoping that the project will boost local tourism.
