Turkey’s national flag carrier is set to launch weekly flights between Tehran and Konya, in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey. The launch of the new route, which is set to operate twice a week starting May 30, will increase the number of Turkish Airlines weekly flights to and from Iran to 69. “The new route will help strengthen relations between Iran and Turkey,” the carrier announced in a statement made available to the Financial Tribune. Turkish Airlines, which is one of a handful of airlines that did not cease its operation in Iran during the sanctions regime against Tehran, flies to more than 287 destinations in 115 countries, and it is the fourth largest carrier in the world in terms of destinations served.
