The preliminary planning session for the 8th Winter Festival, to be held in Hamedan took place on November 1. Delegates from different tourism sectors were present. The festival has been assigned a secretariat for the first time, CHTN reported.
The provincial head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) said: “This year the responsibility for holding the national winter festival is with Hamedan Province.” Reyhan Soroush Moqadam added: “We endeavor to offer a different experience for national and international tourists to visit the province in the (tourism) low-season. The seasonal festivals held in such periods can help boost the provincial tourism and related businesses such as transportation, accommodation and food.”
Participants brainstormed different ways to highlight the traditional winter culture of Hamedan, and to offer tours with a winter theme. It is hoped this will help bring out Hamedan’s potential as a winter tourist destination, the official added.
