Handicraft Markets Improve Sales in Norouz season

An estimated 675 handicraft markets in Iran’s 31 provinces earned close to 320 billion rials ($9.3 million) during the Norouz New Year holidays (March 20-April 1), according to the Handicrafts Office of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.
The data only includes sales in the special holiday fairs and markets, excluding handicraft stores across the country, the Persian-language daily Donya-e-Eqtesad reported.
Norouz holiday markets are very popular among tourists during the two-week annual holiday season. They reported a 33% growth in this year’s season compared to the preceding year, when they made 240 billion rials ($7 million).
