People in London can now enjoy a night’s stay at a hotel that has given itself a special Harry Potter renovation.
Boutique hotel The Georgian House has spruced up two rooms into Potter-inspired ‘Wizard’s Chambers’, complete with four-poster beds, cauldrons, potion bottles, spell books, and according to the hotel’s website, “unexpected wizardly details.” The smaller of the two costs $401 and the larger room which sleeps five, $585.
“The rooms are initially inspired by the Harry Potter films, the draped four poster beds and the battered trunks for instance. But we really wanted to create a magical experience, so there are lots of original and creative touches, like a wand painted into the hand of a portrait of the Mona Lisa for example,” Serena Von Der Heyde, one of the owners of the hotel said.
Guests going for the hotel’s ‘Harry Potter Package’ will enjoy one night for two people, followed by a ‘Muggle breakfast’ (full English) before walking to the nearby Victoria Station to clamber aboard the Harry Potter Tour bus, which will take them to the Warner Brothers Studio Tour, The Making of Harry Potter, just outside London.
“Our chambers have been created to transport you to the world of Harry Potter,” the hotel website says. “They have a gothic feel. They are completely different to any room you will ever have stayed in, yet in their own way they are very beautiful.”
Von der Heyde said that one of the main reasons for transforming the hotel was to appeal to young visitors and children.
