Entry to Oshtorankouh Protected Area in Lorestan Province is prohibited until June 4 in order to prevent damage to blooming plants and animals bearing offspring. “Each year with the onset of spring, the entry restriction starts to give nature respite to recuperate,” Ahmad Goudarzi, caretaker of the protected area, told ISNA. Spring is also when the animals in the region reproduce. “By keeping people off the area, the animals are undisturbed and protected against hunters, improving their offspring’s survival chances,” Goudarzi added. Since there are not enough park rangers in Oshtorankouh, he called on the public to comply with the ban until it is lifted in summer. Those who violate the ban will be prosecuted.
