The government of Taiwan has opted to ease visa requirements for Iranian citizens in a bid to boost inbound tourism and develop economic ties between Tehran. Effective immediately, Taiwan has scrapped the need for a letter of guarantee from an individual residing in Taiwan to issue visas to Iranian nationals, travel news website donyayesafar.com reported. In a letter to Masoud Khansari, the president of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Jerry S. Yang, the director of the commercial office of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Dubai, said Iranians will no longer need to have a sponsor in the East Asian country to apply for a visa. Both tourist and business visas would thus be issued in easier procedures. “Now holders of Iranian passports can apply for forms of visa from our diplomatic missions around the world without having to be backed by sponsors in Taiwan,” Yang wrote in the letter.
