Apparently, the streets of Paris are not clean enough for Japanese tourists. So tour agencies from Tokyo have taken matters into their own hands.

They are picking up litter around the Eiffel Tower and Trocadero gardens this weekend, ABC reported.

Some people have said that it was Paris’ dirty streets that caused the city to lose the 2012 Olympics.

Former environment head Yves Contassot called Paris “the dog manure capital of the world,” according to ABC.

“They say they want to make the city cleaner for their own people, who have high standards, but in recent years Paris has actually become one of the cleanest cities in the world,” a Paris city hall spokesman was quoted as saying by Travel Pulse.

On top of the filth, travel agents say the recent terrorist attacks and rude Parisians are preventing Japanese people from visiting the city.

The Japanese embassy has even created a 24-hour hotline for people suffering from cultural shock in Paris, or “Paris Syndrome” as they call it.
