The flow of foreign tourists to Azerbaijan, especially from Iran during the Norouz holidays (March 20 – April 1), is expected to increase, chairman of the Azerbaijan Tourism Association, Nahid Bagirov told Trend news agency.
“Iranian tourists have already booked rooms for the holidays,” he said, adding that his office has been training Persian-speaking tour guides for some time in anticipation of the Iranian New Year holidays.
He noted that foreign tourists arriving in Azerbaijan primarily prefer to visit Baku and then the northern regions. For Iranians, Baku and Nakhchivan are the top destinations.
Azerbaijan grants Iranian nationals visa-on-arrival, while Iran has waived visa requirements for Azeris.
