Kazakhstan’s flag carrier Air Astana will launch its first flights to Iran and Mongolia in summer.
Starting in early June, the airline will commence its first ever flights to Iran. The new route from Kazakhstan’s largest city, Almaty, to the Iranian capital Tehran will run three times a week (Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays) using a 148-seat Airbus A320 aircraft, Travel Daily Media reported.
Also in June, Air Astana will offer three weekly flights from the Kazakh capital Astana, to the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar. Services will operate every Monday, Thursday and Sunday using a 97-seat Embraer E190 aircraft.
Air Astana is the latest airline to announce a direct Tehran route following the lifting of economic sanctions on Iran in January. Earlier, British Airways and Air France-KLM had confirmed that they will restart flights to the Iranian capital within months.
