Industrial Tourism Can Also Help

With the highly-anticipated Implementation Day —  a day designated in the July nuclear agreement with the six world powers that marks the official lifting of sanctions against Iran and the beginning of trade — seemingly weeks away, tourism stakeholders say industrial tourism can help boost foreign investment and, by extension, the economy.

Industrial tourism involves visits to operational companies and industrial heritage sites; it offers visitors an experience with regard to products, production processes, applications, and historical backgrounds.

“A well-developed industrial tourism sector along with meticulously-planned tours is essential to presenting the full potential of Iranian industries,” Ali Yavari, director of the Industrial Tourism Project in Iran, told ILNA on Saturday.

In months following the landmark July nuclear deal in Vienna between Iran and the P5+1 (the US, France, Russia, China, Britain plus Germany), several high-ranking European delegations visited Iran to test the new political climate and business opportunities.

“The Rouhani administration’s foreign policy has clearly worked, as demonstrated by the (long-awaited) nuclear accord and growing foreign interest in the Iranian market. But to present the full scale and scope for investment in our industries, industrial tourism is a must,” he reiterated.

Detailed tour packages have been prepared for foreign investors that will offer comprehensive tours of industrial sites to business tourists based on their needs and areas of interest.

“These tours will help familiarize foreigners with Iranian industries and provide domestic entrepreneurs with a platform to meet and discuss business opportunities with international investors,” Yavari said.
