The cultural and geographical proximity between Turkmenistan and Iran provides appropriate grounds for stronger cultural cooperation between the two states, according the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Tehran. Speaking to IRNA, Gurbanov Ahmet Kakabayevich, commended both countries for their cultural activities and said, “You can feel there’s something amiss, and that’s stronger bilateral ties in the cultural domain.” Recalling the recent meeting between President Hassan Rouhani and his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, the diplomat said the Turkmen leader had also called for promoting cultural collaboration with Tehran. Iran and Turkmenistan have been holding joint cultural events over the past few years, a move which Kakabayevich said must be built on. “We need to organize more events,” he said.
