Rotana Continues Expansion

Rotana Hotels and Resorts, one of the leading hospitality management groups in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Eastern Europe is set to continue its ambitious expansion with the opening of 15 properties across the remainder of this year and 2016.

With flourishing development being made in its growth strategy, Rotana is further strengthening its presence in Turkey, Iraq and Bahrain, while 2016 will also see the opening of the group’s first property in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, marking Rotana’s increasing footprint in Africa, industry website Travel Daily News reported.

The hotels add 3,769 rooms to Rotana’s existing 13,875–strong room count across its global property portfolio.

Omer Kaddouri, president and chief executive of Rotana, said: “The group has a very robust development pipeline for 2016. By extending the Rotana brand into new cities while also reinforcing our market leadership in the Middle East, we have come closer to realizing our ambitious vision of operating 100 hotels by 2020.

“With a carefully considered international development strategy in place, we are constantly looking for growth opportunities and all of these markets presented opportunities for Rotana to extend our award-winning hospitality offering.”

The United Arab Emirates-based hotel group has a brand aimed at Muslim travelers – Rayhaan Hotel and Resorts – and the company is preparing for four properties to open in the Iranian cities of Tehran and Mashhad by 2018.

“With the lifting of sanctions, we are sure that all developers and operators will be racing to secure their position in one of the world’s largest untapped markets,” said Kaddouri last week on the sidelines of the World Travel Market expo in London.
