New airport visa regulations aimed at facilitating foreign arrivals have gone into effect, two months after their approval.

Henceforth, most foreign travelers will be able to receive month-long visas at Iran’s international airports, ISNA reported.

Previously, Iran offered 15-day visas to select nationalities.

Currently, travelers from across the world, except for 10 countries, can obtain visas on arrival in Iranian airports.

Colombia, Somalia, Britain, Canada, USA, Bangladesh, Jordan, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan have been excluded from the list.

In July, Iran waived visa requirements for citizens of seven countries, namely Azerbaijan, Syria, Turkey, Georgia, Bolivia, Egypt and Lebanon.

A working group, comprising members from security and police forces, Foreign Ministry and Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, is tasked with discussing visa waivers and reviewing its policies.
