Tourism Bank has become Iran’s 10th affiliate member of United Nations World Tourism Organization.
Last month, two private Iranian tourism firms—Alisadr Travel Company and Qoqnoos Tour and Travel Agency—were admitted into the organization during the 21st UNWTO General Assembly in Medellin, Colombia, the Persian website Asr Iran reported.
The privately-owned Tourism Bank aims to facilitate investment in the growing tourism industry, which is considered an emerging market, according to the bank’s description on the UNWTO website.
Moj News Agency reports that Tourism Bank is the first of its kind to be included in the organization’s Affiliate Members Program.
The program includes more than 100 universities, research centers and training schools dedicated to investigating, generating and sharing their research.
Through UNWTO membership, affiliate members benefit from networking opportunities and platforms to share knowledge and expertise.
An affiliate membership of the organization is open to international bodies related to tourism and to commercial bodies and associations whose activities pursue the aims of UNWTO.
