Historical Iranian relics and artifacts will be exhibited in European countries in 2016 and 2017, according to a high-ranking official of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.

Speaking to Mehr News Agency, Mohammad Reza Kargar, ICHHTO’s director for museums and historical movable properties, said the organization will enter into talks with European states, including Austria, to make the arrangements.

“These exhibitions help introduce Iran’s history, culture and arts to the world. Museums should devise ways of familiarizing those who cannot travel with the cultures and traditions of other civilizations,” he said.

“ICHHTO had earlier organized different exhibitions, most notably an exhibition to introduce Iran’s 7,000-year history, in 16 countries.”

Kargar pointed to negotiations with Reins Wolf, director of the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany, and said Germany will host an exhibition on prehistoric Iran in 2017.

“The exhibition will showcase Persian art and history prior to the advent of the Achaemenid era. In return, the National Museum of Iran will host an exhibition on Germany,” he said.
