For the first time in Iran, maritime organizations and companies will collaborate with the country’s tourism authorities to introduce Iran’s potential in the sector during the National Tourism Week (Sept. 27-Oct. 3).

A special ceremony and an exhibition will be held in Tehran to celebrate World Tourism Day on September 27.

Milad Tower will host the ceremony while the four-day exhibition (Sept 24-27) will be held at Ab-o-Atash Park, according to Seyyed Kazem Kholdinasab, director of Tourism Planning and Development Office at Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, the Persian news website TINN reported.

“All maritime organizations have been invited to participate in the event by promoting Iran’s marine attractions using photos, posters, short films, catalogues and other means,” he said.

Kholdinasab said both the public and the private sector will have a strong presence in the exhibition.

“Some nomadic tribes have also been asked to participate in the expo,” he said.

The official said none of Iran’s provinces will be represented in Tehran’s exhibition, explaining that ICHHTO has issued a directive obliging provincial tourism departments to organize exhibitions in their own jurisdiction.

Kholdinasab noted that boosting domestic tourism and introducing local attractions are a priority.

“We believe that introducing provincial attractions must first target the locals,” he said.
