An exhibition on art and culture of Mexican civilization will be held at the National Museum of Iran in 2016. This will be the first collection of historical artifacts of a foreign civilization to be exhibited in Iran, ISNA reported. “Following a meeting between Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization officials and Mexico’s cultural authorities, both sides agreed to showcase a series of ancient artifacts and works of art representing the rich history of the Central American nation in Iran,” said Mohammad Reza Kargar, director of museum affairs at ICHHTO. The same collection had been previously showcased in Europe. Over 250 objects dating from Preclassic and Classic Mayan periods to more recent times will be loaned to Iran for the exhibition.
