Austrian tour operators are set to visit in October to evaluate Iran’s tourism potential as a new holiday destination for the Central European nation, according to the head of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture. “Hopefully, Austrian tours will follow suit,” Tinn News Agency quoted Mohsen Jalalpour as saying. Jalalpour praised Austria for not bowing to international pressures and said, “Austria is one of the handful of countries that did not cut trade ties with Iran during the sanctions regime, and the two countries continued to cooperate.” Iran is gradually reclaiming its place as a top destination for Europeans, as evidenced by reports last month that the number of European tourists to Iran tripled during March 2014-15.
