The Sixth Handicrafts Exhibition of Tabriz will be held in the International Fair Ground from September 14-18.

About 240 artisans are expected to attend the expo to showcase their crafts in 250 pavilions, Mehr News Agency reported.

Farzin Haqparast, the head of East Azarbaijan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department, said the exhibition aims to promote Iranian crafts and raise awareness regarding their potential to boost tourism and the economy.

“Developing our handicraft industry will inevitably influence tourism and help create jobs,” he said.

The official said the exhibition provides a platform for craftsmen and those interested in Iranian handicrafts to meet and discuss industry matters.

Earlier this week, Tabriz, along with Isfahan, was declared “World Craft City” by the World Craft Council, and experts believe that can help promote traditional Iranian handicrafts globally.
