An ecocamp in Nandal Village to the northern slope of Mount Damavand in Mazandaran Province was inaugurated on Sunday. Speaking at the inauguration, Mohammad Ali Fayyazi, director general of Iran’s National Ecotourism Committee, said Mount Damavand is one of Iran’s most well-known natural attractions that draws countless adventure-seekers from across the world every year, Mehr News Agency reported. He said the large number of mountaineers descending on Mount Damavand’s southern slope has taken a toll on the environment and hoped the establishment of ecocamp in the north will help accommodate a significant number of climbers. The well-equipped ecocamp boasts international standards and construction in its vicinity is strictly prohibited.
