Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization’s Tourism Office has launched an online campaign to promote the National Tourism Festival scheduled for Sept. 24-27 in Tehran.

The campaign encourages people to share their tourism experiences, memories, pictures and novel ideas with the hashtag #PersiaFest on social media, IRNA reported.

A team of experts in tourism marketing and management collaborated with ICHHTO to launch the campaign. The campaign pushes for public participation to help develop the tourism industry and introduce unknown locations across the country.

The tourism festival coincides with World Tourism Day, which is celebrated every year on September 27.

Participants in the campaign are encouraged to share short 60-second films related to tourism in Iran. Works of the participants will be judged by a jury and winners will be announced and awarded on World Tourism Day.

The side programs of the festivals are also introduced at #PersiaFest, which include an ethnic festival, live music, performance of rituals and an exhibition of tourism attractions.

Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27. This date was chosen as on that day in 1970, the statutes of UNWTO were adopted.

The adoption of these statutes is considered a milestone in global tourism. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.

Those interested in participating can visit the festival’s website at http://www.irantourismfestival2.com for further information.
