Iran has prepared detailed information on 1,020 investment projects that will be made available to potential domestic and foreign investors soon.

Masoud Soltanifar, the head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, also told reporters that the projects will help create jobs, IRNA reported.

“The projects, which need 230 trillion rials ($7 billion), include details about three- to five-star hotel projects and holiday resorts. Details about the projects will be made available in two weeks in both English and Arabic,” he said.

The proposed projects will be part of a package compiled by ICHHTO. The proposals also include restoration of historical sites.

  Artisans Deserve Recognition

Soltanifar pointed to the low income of artisans and said, “Given the significant impact of artisans on Iran’s cultural development, they must be appropriately compensated. They face financial hardships and that problem must be addressed.”

He said the organization has managed to revive workshops that had long ceased to operate.

Soltanifar said marketing and trade, quality improvement and innovation in the handicraft sector are among ICHHTO’s top priorities for the next two years.

Iran hosted 620 handicraft events last year and 1,000 bazaars and expos are expected to be held in the current Iranian year (started March 21).
