The province of Kerman must capitalize on its geography and rich history to become a top desert tourism hotspot in the world, according to Mohammad Jahanshahi, tourism deputy at the provincial Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department. “The Lut Desert, which covers a considerable portion of Kerman, is unknown to the vast majority of the world populace. Therefore, it provides us with a great opportunity,” ISNA quoted Jahanshahi as saying. Aside from the desert, Kerman also boasts of natural, historical and cultural tourist attractions. “Organizing festivals in metropolises such as Tehran can help promote Kerman’s attractions,” he said.
