A tourist resort will be established in Ardabil Province, Akbar Torkan, senior advisor to President Hassan Rouhani, said during his visit to areas targeted for the plan. Counties of Meshkinshahr, Nir and Ardabil are included in the plan. The “special tourist zone” is expected to attract tourists in droves, while boosting the local economy, Torkan said. The province of Ardabil boasts beautiful landscapes and, due to its cool climate, attracts many people from across Iran during the summer. Alvares ski resort, a short drive from Meshkinshahr, is packed with ski enthusiasts in winter.
