Construction project of Ardabil International Airport is 70% complete, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi said during his visit to Ardabil Province. Currently, international airport projects are underway, with some nearing completion in metropolises such as Tabriz, Mashhad, Shiraz and Ardabil. Once complete, Iran’s international airports can accommodate up to one million passengers in total, Mehr News Agency quoted Akhoundi as saying. “Development of international airports will lead to economic and cultural growth and contribute to development of tourism,” he said. Akhoundi stressed the importance of having an eye-catching architecture, adding that the architecture of an airport should also reflect local customs and traditions.
