In the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), six travel agencies were shut down and 56 others were suspended, according to the website of the Iran Civil Aviation Organization.
Following a regular audit carried out to ensure compliance with regulations, the travel agencies were found to be in violation of the law, director of Airports and Airlines Monitoring Office at the organization, Morteza Dehqan, said.
“Only those licensed by the Civil Aviation Organization are allowed to sell airplane tickets. For the sake of transparency, licensed travel agencies have to publicly display their license.”
