The Iranian Tourism Scientific Association (ITSA), and the Ganjname tourism complex in Hamedan, joined the UNWTO as affiliated members, ISNA reported.
The organizations were approved to join UNWTO, during the 99th session of its Executive Council, held October 1-3 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The international forum was attended by Taleb Rifai, the Secretary General and representatives of member nations, including experts from dozens of countries with an advanced travel industry, along with leaders of international tourism organizations.
Besides taking part in the UNWTO session, the deputy of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (CHHTO), Morteza Rahmani Movahed, held a meeting with the tourism minister of the host county. Tourism co-operations on joint tours and promotion of the Silk Road were among the issues discussed.
