The western Kurdestan Province is set to host a traditional arts and crafts exhibition, Mehr News Agency reported, quoting the handicrafts deputy of Kurdestan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism department, Mehrdad Kiani, as saying.
The department has been marking the annual World Handicrafts Day on June 10 for years. The date also signals the beginning of the National Handicrafts Week in Iran, whose theme this year is “Handicrafts: Bridging Art and Spirituality.” The exhibition will be held between June 10-20, in Sanandaj, Saghez, and Marivan. Local artisans will showcase their works at the event.
“Various programs have been planned promoting public awareness about Kurdestan’s art and craft,” Kiani said. Programs include climbing Mount Saral in Divandarreh County and organizing workshops.
