Tourist taxis will soon begin operation in Tehran, ISNA quoted the head of Tehran Municipality’s organization of welfare and public participation office Farzad Hushyar as saying. Tourist taxis will be stationed at bus terminals and airports, and will drive across the city in five different routes. Passengers will be guided to visit Tehran’s old districts and other attractions of historical, cultural, and religious significance. The organization of welfare and public participation is negotiating with the Tehran Taxi Management and Supervision Organization to turn a number of taxis into tourist cabs. To that end, drivers will have to pass training courses to become familiarized with Tehran’s tourist attractions, and learn basic English.
