Museums across the country offer free admission on Monday, and people are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about Iran’s history.

Those interested in restoration and renovation of historical monuments, textile, metals, glass, among others, have the opportunity to take a closer look at the processes at the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT), according to the head of ICOM office in Iran, Ahmad Mohit Tabatabaee.

A ceremony to select Iran’s best museum will be held Monday afternoon at Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art at 17:00. The museum is located on Karegar Street. Moreover, visiting the National Jewelery Treasury at the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) in Ferdowsi Street is also free of charge.

Khaneye Honarmandan (Iranian Artists Forum) on Iranshahr Street will host a seminar and an exhibition on Iranian costumes on Tuesday at 16:00.

The International Museum Day, initiated by ICOM, takes place around the world every year in May. It seeks to promote the importance and diversity of exhibitions. According to ICOM, 35,000 museums in 145 countries participated in the event last year. This year’s theme is “Museums for a Sustainable Society.”
