The historical Ruins of Persepolis in Shiraz, Fars Province was crowned Travelers’ Choice 2014 Winner on the Tripadvisor travel site. The competition is based on travelers’ feedback and evaluations on visited tourist attractions.
The majority of voters considered Persepolis to be Iran’s best attraction, particularly for those interested in the history of ancient Persia. Voters who gave the historical site a 5-star rating, referred to Persepolis as ‘a must-see site’.
Some reviewers advised future visitors to make provisions for their trip to Persepolis; bottles of water and sun caps among the most emphasized provisions due to the scorching sun. Some also stressed the need for a tour guide fluent in both Farsi and English, in order to truly appreciate the history of the ancient complex. It took some visitors 3 hours to tour the grounds; while some claimed they had needed three days to appreciate the vastness of Persepolis.
First-time visitors who evaluated the site advised others not to miss the view from Mount Rahmat, describing the vista is “breathtaking” and” memorable”.
Furthermore, ticket prices were deemed appropriate by most visitors, and the signboards provided enough information. Also, local people were described as “friendly” and “helpful”.
While there were no specific comments in regards to the site’s facilities, one reviewer wondered why the nearby café “did not serve coffee”
