Mahan Air Launches Munich Flights

Iranian airline Mahan Air has launched direct flights to the German city of Munich from Tehran.  Starting this month the initial service will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, and will increase to an additional Friday service from May 22. Flights from Tehran will depart at 7am and arrive in Munich at 9:25am. The return flight will leave at 10:45am, landing in Tehran at 5:45pm.

The airline also services routes to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Mahan Air added its second German destination (in addition to Düsseldorf) and its third to Europe (joining Istanbul Atatürk), when it began twice-weekly (Wednesdays and Sundays) operations to Munich (MUC) on March 11. Ordinarily, the 3,512-kilometre sector will be flown by the Iranian airline’s 210-seat A310s from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA), however the inaugural flight was operated by one of its A340s. There will be no competition on the city pair.

The first flight was marked by a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, with the honors being performed by: Ali Majedi, Iran’s Ambassador to Germany; Michael Kerkloh, Munich Airport CEO; Ebrahimi Hossein, Commercial VP for Mahan Air; and Hossein Hosseini, Marketing Director for Mahan Air.
