To introduce the written heritage of Iran to the world, foreign tourists will be able to visit Iranian National Library and Archive as part of their tour package from next Iranian year (starting March 21), said the head of the library, Reza Salehi Amiri. The agreement for foreign tourists to include a visit to the library and archive in their travel itinerary was signed between Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), the National Library, and the Tour Operators’ Association, Salehi Amiri told ISNA. He pointed to the valuable treasures kept in the library, including 38,000 manuscripts, some of which date back to 1015 years ago, 34,000 ancient lithographic prints, and 5 million other publications along with millions of photographs and films that can depict Iran’s cultural image for visitors from all around the world. “This can be a cultural diplomacy even if we succeed to attract 10% of the millions of international travelers coming to the country every year,” he asserted.
