The number of domestic flights to Kish Island has increased by 25%, Online Hamshahri quoted managing director of Kish Free Zone Ali-Asghar Moonesan as saying. Over 100 flights per day are made to the island. This figure is up from 75 flights last year. On average, 10,000 tourists visit the island each day, and the hotels are 85% full. There is an increase in over-night stays compared to last year. Factors contributing to the increased number of visitors include: a greater variety of cultural and artistic programs and festivals, sporting contests, completion of urban development plans, including the 15-hectare green promenade and the coastal gardens.
