The 8th convention of Iranian Tourist Guides commenced on February 17 in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province and will run until Feb 20.
There is an air of optimism, brought about by the increased focus on the tourism industry by the government, the recent tourism expo, and Tehran’s selection as host of the 2017 International Convention of World Federation of Tour Guides Association.
The event has been organized by Iran Federation of Tourist Guides Association (IFTGA), supported by Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), with almost 1000 tourism sector stakeholders taking part.
The convention aims to capitalize on and contribute to a brighter future for tourism in Iran, said Arash Nooraghaee, head of the board in IFTGA, and added “We have many arrangements to make in preparation for the 2017 International Convention of World Federation of Tour Guides Association”.
Paying attention to cultural heritage and tourism capacities of Iran, considering the Silk Road and the Imam Reza (A.S.) route, introducing the cultural and environmental attractions of the Khorasan region as well as other provinces are the main goals of this event.
Several workshops including traditional celebrations, customs, clothing, literature and poetry and ecotourism on the Khorasan region are will be held during the convention as well as an overview of effective communication with tourists and new methods of operating tours.
The convention has been held every year since 2007.
