A direct flight route between Iran and Spain will be launched next summer.
One of Iran’s major airlines, Mahan Air, and Top Tours Company from Spain are collaborating in launching the route, reported CHTN.
The deal was agreed during the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR 2015, and in a ceremony held by the Iranian embassy in Madrid called Persian Nights, said the head of Iran Touring and Automobile Club, Ebad-Reza Eslami, who is also the manager of Iran’s pavilion in the fair.
The flights are scheduled on Sundays from Tehran to Madrid, and on Wednesdays from Tehran to Barcelona, using Airbus 340 aircrafts. The direct flight route will save a considerable amount of money and energy on both sides and will be a great contribution to the country’s economy, he emphasized.
In a bid to further expand Iran’s tourism industry, meetings were held between Iranian representatives in the fair and foreign officials from Spain and other countries.
Eslami also met with United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) director of the Affiliate Members Program, Yolanda Perdomo. Perdomo called for a stronger presence of Iran in joint and affiliate programs with UNWTO.
The Affiliate Members Program of UNWTO has over 400 Members representing the private sector, educational institutions, tourism associations and local tourism authorities.
On January 29 the Iranian delegation paid a visit to the Spanish Racing and Automobile Club in Madrid and to learn more about activities and achievements of Spanish car racing, car services, roadside assistance, etc.
