Villa construction in the farmlands of northern Iran is strictly banned by a recent order issued by the government. Based on the order, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the Department of Environment are bound to monitor the region and detect any illegal construction, Khabaronline reported. The entities have been asked to monitor, detect and register vulnerable public and state-owned areas and farmlands within six months in the northern parts of the country, including Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan provinces, so as to take stricter measures against illegal constructions. The Roads Ministry has also been ordered to prevent the expansion of city borders and, instead, add to the urban density. The Agriculture Ministry has been ordered to demolish illegal constructions outside city borders.
