Novel Water Conservation Scheme in Hormozgan

As Iran's struggle with water crisis rages on, novel ideas and calls for water conservation are being heard across the country.  One such scheme being implemented in Hormozgan Province aims to collect water discharged from air conditioners in residential buildings to irrigate urban green spaces, IRIB News reported. "Results of experiments at the Hormozgan Water and Wastewater Company were very encouraging so we're implementing the scheme across the province," Reza Honarkhah, director of the Technical and Engineering Office at the company, said. Honarkhah claimed that the scheme can help save 4,000 liters of water every day. Hormozgan is among the most water stressed regions in Iran, despite being a coastal province. Per capita water consumption in summer reaches 300 liters—100 and 150 liters above national and global averages, respectively.
