About 1,000 hectares of land around industrial units in Kerman Province will undergo reforestation that’s partially funded by the private sector. The project, which was inaugurated on Wednesday, is the first step toward the province’s goal of combating desertification in approximately 20,000 hectares of land, YJC quoted Kerman Governor Alireza Razm Hosseini as saying. “A vast majority of mountain almond trees will be planted,” he added. One of the major consequences of desertification is severe dust storms, which Kerman and other southern provinces have been dealing with for years.
