Tehran's Biodiversity Museum will charge no admission fee on May 22 to commemorate the International Day for Biological Diversity. Officials hope the measure will help draw people to the museum. "The main goal is to raise public awareness about Iran's plants and biodiversity," Tahereh Eftekhari, an official at the Department of Environment, was quoted as saying by the Department of Environment's official news website. The museum is located at Pardisan Park in west Tehran in the vicinity of the DOE headquarters. The International Day for Biological Diversity has been commemorated every year since 1993. Although initially adopted on December 29, the date was moved to May 22 in 2000 by the UN General Assembly.
