In commemoration of the International Museum Day, Iran’s Cinema Museum will offer free entry on May 18.
Located in Tehran’s upscale Bagh Ferdos neighborhood, the Qajar-era edifice that houses the museum is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The museum was established in September 1994 to help collect, safeguard, record and provide an accurate and detailed presentation of the Iranian cinematic heritage.
The site has a four out of five star rating on the travel review website www.tripadvisor.com based on 47 reviews.
“Iran has one of the best independent cinema cultures stretching back to the beginning of both popular and art film … [the museum] is an incredible record of that industry,” wrote a user identified as Peter A on the website.
The museum is surrounded by tranquil cafes whose clientele mostly include art aficionados, so make sure to grab a cup of coffee on your way out.
