Having enlisted help from friendly nations in the developed world to address Iran’s environmental problems, the National Environment Fund aims to accelerate the development of green technologies, according Massoumeh Ebtekar, head of the Department of Environment. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the First Conference on Sampling and Monitoring Environmental Pollutants (May 1-3) in Tehran on Sunday, Ebtekar said, “Vigilant sampling and monitoring of pollutants helps improve the quality of life in our cities,” ILNA reported. The special fund has paved the way for the development of green technology using the expertise of researchers in developed countries. The National Environment Fund was launched in 2015, ten years after its statute was drawn up. Its stated goal is to help promote international ties, especially with European countries, to help Iran tackle its environmental challenges.
